Had the pleasure of bringing a group of students to the Overture Hall for the Madison Symphony Orchestra’s “Getting Motif-ated” with Classical Music’s Greatest Hits. It was a lovely performance with different members of the orchestra discussing and showing examples of the different kinds of instruments. The house was almost filled to its 2200 person capacity with three different shows for the school districts. We were honored to see 11 year old Miss Isabella Wu play the Symphony’s show grand piano during the Mendelssohn piece. Here is the list of hits:
Brandenburg Concerto No.3 in G Major, BWV 1048–I. Allegro by J.S. Bach
Symphony No. 40 in G minor, KV 550–I. Molto allegro by W.A. Mozart
Symphony No. 5 in C minor, Op. 67–I. Allegro con brio by Beethoven
Concerto No. 1 in G minor, Op. 25–III. Allegro con brio by Mendelssohn
Rakoczy March from Damnation of Faust, Op. 24 by Berlioz
Shaker Melody from Appalachian Spring by Copeland
